Dotty Wakes Up Tired but in a Good Mood (Audio)

Share/Save/Bookmark
By Bob DeMarco

Dotty woke up twice today.

For the last few days Dotty has been eating everything she can get her hands on. This is disturbing because over eating tends to make Dotty more difficult to deal with. She tends to be more irritable because most of her energy is going into digesting her food. It is like it saps the energy from her brain.

She has the early morning back ache. This means poop agita on the horizon for today. We will treat this with a double round of the magic elixir -- prune juice.

At least she is in a good mood so we are off to a good start today.

Listen to Dotty in the CinchCast below.

Yesterday, July 4, we went to a barbecue. 167 people sang Happy Birthday to Dotty. She was very pleased, smiled and said -- Thank You. I was looking forward to how she would react. You never know with someone suffering from Alzheimer's disease. I was very happy to see her reaction.

Sue Wonders -- Am I Prepared for Dotty's Death?

Sue Ronnenkamp entered this comment under the article -- Dotty Continues to Amaze Me.

A recent story about Bill Moyers and his retirement included this quote of his: "I have known all along you need to know when the time has come to exit. There is a time. There is a season." This applies to retirement and to our lives.

I'm happy for you that your mom has recovered so well and so quickly - but I do hope that you are also preparing mentally and psychologically for her exit from this world. Even those who are your mom's age and in good condition (like my dad) don't want to live forever. Many, many older adults pray for an easy and fast death when the time comes so that's what I pray for and wish for them. Since your mom will not be able to make this decision for herself, you will need to make it for her when the time comes. I know death of our loved ones is a great loss but death can also be a great blessing in old age.

We gotta stop watching that Dr Oz show. If they put Dr Oz and Bobby in the same room all they would talk about is poop.

Bobby says, I am a lovable character. I also heard him say that I am a "bitch". I have to admit I don't remember him saying that in a long time.

I guess I feel the same way about Bobby. Bobby is a good son. Bobby is also a "pain in the ass sometimes".
